Fiction Story: Sehaj And Sabba Blog 4

Farhan rushed home nearing sunset. When he entered home, wonderful aroma of freshly made food tingled his nostrils and his hunger grew by the minute. He rushed to the kitchen.

"Ammi, Aapko Abbu kuch kahe?", Farhan asked his mother who was alone in the kitchen.

"Haan Beta, Woh Apni Bahu ko aage padhana chahate hai. Bole mein apni poti ko sambhalu , woh college jayegi to", said Daima, Farhan's mother.

"Aur aap isse sehmat ho?", Farhan  sensed his mother was not very comfortable.

"Do I have a say in this? Seems like your father and you have already decided that she will study further", Daima said grudgingly.

Farhan hugged his mom, "Ammi, you will be proud of Sabba one day! Wait and watch".

Daima could not miss Farhan's dimples and the pride for his young bride. "Sahi hai beta, samaj lungi apni beti ko padah rahi hu". Daima always loved children but Farhan was her only child.

Farhan really felt very grateful for having such kind and loving parents. He felt it was a blessing to have such progressive parents. He went off to his bedroom to find it empty.

"Ammi, Where is Sabba?", Farhan called out loud.

"At her mom's place, they were missing their grand daughter.", Daima said quizzically. "Din't she tell you about it in the morning that she was going for a 3 day stay at her parent's?".

"No", Farhan felt dejected but din't betray his emotions to his mother.

"If you want to meet her, go to your in-laws place, they stay close by. It's a long time you went to pay your respect to her parents", Daima said soothingly.

"It's ok, I am tired today, maybe i'll go tomorrow" , Farhan dimissed his hurt and focused on eating the sumptuous meal prepared by his mother after a long time.

Farhan could not really concentrate on his work today. Sabba's innocent face flashed in front of him every now and then.

".... bol na, Farhan beta, kya baat hai",  Faizal Ali was puzzled by his son's lost behaviour.

"kuch nahi Abbu, bas kuch soch raha tha", saying Farhan tried to brush off the topic.

"Kuch to hai.. Rishtey mein hum tumhare baap hai bhai, bata hi do", Faizal insisted.

"Kaise bole, aaj pehli baar Sabba ne mujhe apne maan ki baat boli, aur mein kuch nahi bol paya aage. Usse aage padhna hai Abbu - Farhan.

"Arre ye to badi acchi baat hai, tum ne to kabhi padhai mein mann nahi lagaya, agar lagate toh aaj yaha hummare saath nahi kisi US ki badi IT company mein hote" Faizal said wistfully.

"Abbu, mujhe aapka business aage badhana hai. Woh sab shodo. Aap bolo, Ammi manegi? Woh Sahej bitiya ko dekh lengi? Agar Sabba college jaye to?"  Farhan was now getting excited. This was the first time he would be able to do something for his lovely bride.

"Hum Baat karenge teri Ammi se, Inshallah, humari bahu rani aage padhegi", Faizal give a gentle smile upon seeing Farhan's excitement.

"Thank you, I will go and check about the admission process for college near our house", Farhan set out without wasting further time.

Faizal gave out a loud laugh and started singing "kya yahi pyaar hai, haa yahi pyaar hai...".
